Amax Capital is a deliberately small partnership. Every mandate is led by a partner with decades of senior advisory experience, most of it earned at some of the largest institutions in the world.

Our partners have experience on both sides of the table, having been advisors as well as investing in and running businesses. This gives us a unique perspective on the needs of our clients and the challenges they face first-hand but also allow us to look at situations from an objective standpoint.

Amit Thakur

Amit Thakur

Managing Partner

Amit is a seasoned professional with over two decades of global experience in investment banking, principal finance, and restructuring with prominent banking institutions.

In 2018, he founded Amax Capital in New York, focused on providing high-quality, cross-asset-class advisory to a wide cross-section of clients.

Prior to that, he set up and ran Standard Chartered Bank's M&A business in the US, focused on cross-border advisory for clients in several industries. Besides his 14 years with Standard Chartered Bank, focused on M&A advisory and leveraged finance, he has worked for Morgan Stanley, leading their India financial institutions coverage, and for ICICI Securities.

Amit lives in New York City with his wife and three children. When not being a partner to his clients, he is found buried in books about subjects as varied as the history of geopolitics and astrophysics. He trained as an electrical engineer before acquiring his MBA.

Jay Richmond

Managing Director

Jay is an experienced professional with over 12 years of global experience in investment banking and private equity investing.

He is a banker and an entrepreneur in the consumer, healthcare, financial services, and technology sectors. He has extensive experience in M&A advisory, capital raising, and debt advisory for companies across the world.

Previously part of the private equity investing team at ShoreBridge Capital Partners, Jay's career includes M&A at Standard Chartered Bank with a focus on cross-border transactions. Jay holds a BA degree in Economics from Yale University.

Jolly Mishra

Jolly Mishra

Chairperson

Jolly is a seasoned partnership, marketing, and sales professional with over two decades of experience with some of the largest hardware (Compaq/HP, AMD), telecom (Vodafone), software & cloud (Microsoft), and services (Virtusa, TechMahindra, Wipro) companies globally.

Jolly has deep and wide relationships across the technology and telecom landscape on three continents. She guides the firm on strategy and advises on client and external relationships.

Jolly holds an MBA in marketing and systems, prior to which she received her bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
